THERE WERE OVER 800 PLANTS BENCHED IN AN OPEN SHOW WITH APPROXIMATELY 400 AUSTRALIAN NATIVE SPECIES & HYBRIDS

Our congratulations to President Graham Gray and his Society Group for such an excellent display and well run Conference and Show.

Our Special Thanks to John & Irene Stubbs for their hospitality in allowing us to stay in their home in Brogo.

Finally Congratulations to Mr. Phil Grech (One of D U N O clients) for taking out the Champion Hybrid, Specimen and Native First Flowered seedling with beautifully grown and presented plants, WELL DONE PHIL.

P S With regard to the DOCKRILLIA  striolata   FRIFFLES -‘TUMBI’, this is a sibling cross between striolata Ruffles AD/AM and striolata ‘Frills’ , hence the ‘FRIFFLES’. We are aware of the fact that Watagan forms of Dockrillia striolata have been reclassified as Dockrillia banksii.

Not wanting to confuse D U N O customers we will continue to call/name them Dockrillia striolata, as they have been known under a few names since their first discovery in the early 1800’s as DENDROBIUM teretifolium: then to DENDROBIUM milliganii in the mid 1800. This was named after Joseph Milligan, who was in 1830 appointed surgeon to Van Dieman’s Land (Australia) company’s establishment in Sydney. He was secretary 1844 - 60 and one of the founding members of the Royal Society of Tasmania. He was a keen dedicated collector of Tasmanian plants and is commemorated by names of nine plants including one orchid: DENDROBIUM MILLIGANII.

ITS FINAL HANDLE of DOCK. striolata, we believe was given by

 F.G. BRIEGER in 1981
